Initial requirement following receipt of a new license is 48 hours for the first two (2) licensing cycles. Subsequent licensing cycles require a minimum of 24 credits. Certain exemptions may apply based on initial year in which license was awarded.

Additional Information

Compliance: With license renewal- Licenses renew on the date the license was issued, every 2 years
Training Methods: Classroom, Self Study
Course Subject Requirements: None
Course Subject Repetition: Courses can only be taken once for credit per license period
Credit Carry Over: A maximum of 24 hours/credits may be carried over to the next license period
Method of Certification: The course provider must issue the certificate of completion to the producer. The course provider Reports the credits to the CE Administrator. Currently, Sircon (Vertafore). The CE Administrator processes the CE credits Within 10 business days of receipt and reports them To the Department of Insurance. The CE Administrator will send the producer within 90 days of the license expiration, a copy of the CE courses taken and recorded during the compliance period. Producers must keep original certificates of course completion for 6 years
Exemptions:
  1. Producers licensed continuously since 12/31/70, Unless an additional line of authority was added After that date
  2. Individuals whose only line of authority is a restricted Line
  3. Individuals licensed only for Fraternal (restricted)
  4. Licensees who first obtained license under Section 609 (c) of the Fraternal Benefit Societies Code and whose appointments remain limited to Fraternal Benefit Societies
  5. Individuals whose only line of authority on their license Is a Domestic Mutual Fire
  6. Motor Vehicle physical damage appraisers
  7. Surplus lines agents or members
  8. Reinsurance intermediary brokers or managers
  9. Producers that are a firm, institution, a partnership, a Corporation or a association
  10. Non-resident license if producer is in compliance With their resident state
